This month, I’d love to share some of the photos we took during our preparation for the residency at Bijlmer Parktheater and invite you to the showing of our work in progress on the 28th of May!

Two weeks ago, I finished a residency at Theater Utrecht. For two weeks, I stayed in the studio. Lying down on the floor, inviting friends over, taking a Balinese class together with other changeMaker participants led by the wonderful teacher Arnaud Kokosky Deforchaux, and working with Marilou and Constant-amand, the two other performers in Tectonic. Alongside this, I spent time reading, researching, reflecting, and simply allowing things to unfold.
For the upcoming three weeks, we will be at Bijlmer Parktheater. Practising the practice, building scenes, and working towards a showing of the work in progress. Rachwill, the sound designer, and I have already spent time together developing a beautiful synthesis, something I’d love to share more about in the final update in June.
This year, I promised myself to linger. To take things slowly, to research, to be gentle, and not to focus too heavily on producing a finished performance. That’s why all of the residencies we are doing this year are centred around process and work in progress, rather than creating a piece that has the desire to tour.
I’m very excited to invite audiences into the space, both as a thank you for following my journey at Nederlandse Dansdagen and as part of an ongoing feedback loop. The work invites the audience to participate: to speak, to bring in your own rhythm, and to sync or syncopate with us.
After the summer, we will continue this research at Welcome to Our Guesthouse in Rotterdam. Again, this residency will focus on experimentation, work in progress, and exchange.
But for now, save the dates:
